Build from a completed example
Two shortcuts build the template fields for you. A PDF with its own form fields lists them in a Detected fields panel. A flat form and a filled copy let the app find the values, name the fields, and place the write zones, and more copies teach it.
Placing every field by hand takes time. The app drafts the fields for you when the form already carries fillable fields. It also does this when you provide a copy someone filled out. You review the result as a normal draft.
Detected form fields
A Detected fields panel lists AcroForm fields in reading order if your PDF includes them. Click Select all to turn several on at once.
The app reads the printed label next to the box and names the field. The technical name appears in a tooltip. Choice fields show printed captions. Radio groups become one single-choice question.
Enabling a field fills it by name instead of typing on top. Encrypted government forms decrypt on upload to stay fillable.
A box imports as a From case data row when it matches information the workspace already collects. The row arrives prefilled and stays editable. Unknown boxes become questions.
Attach filled copies when you upload
The upload dialog has a Filled copies (optional) slot for PDF forms. Add one or more copies someone already filled out.
A form with built-in fields already knows where every value goes. Your copies choose which fields the template uses. If a form has 25 fields and your copies fill three, those three switch on and appear in the field list. The other 22 stay listed under Detected fields, switched off, ready to enable by hand. Nothing is deleted, and the filled output keeps every box.
A flat form has no built-in fields. The first copy runs the comparison described below. Any extra copies land in the sample tray to keep teaching the template.
Word files have no filled copies slot.
Upload a completed example
You can also add a filled copy after uploading. Click Upload a completed example. You provide a blank form and a filled copy.
The two files must be the exact same form. Differing page counts or sizes trigger a mismatch error.
Click Find the fields. The app compares the files and spots written values. It names fields from printed labels, picks the type, and places write zones.
It checks its work by filling the blank and nudging placements. The summary lists skipped or partly read pages. If that check could not run, the summary says so, and every placement stays unverified until you look it over. The fields arrive as a normal draft.
Matching case information imports as From case data. Both digital and scanned copies work. Closing the modal cancels everything.
You run this process from chat. Drop the blank and filled copies into the AI Assistant. Ask for a template. It saves immediately.
Chat tells you the template name, the field count, and any placements to double-check. A failed run offers Try again.
Add more samples
One example builds the template. More copies teach it. Click Add sample in the field rail or Add more samples of this document in the tray.
A template learns from up to 10 samples. Two templates using the same form learn separately. The tray marks each row as a Filled copy or Blank copy.
You can change this label. Select a folder to list its PDFs. Nothing opens until a copy runs.
The app reads extra pages. Add a note to guide the pass. Durable notes save to the template profile. You read or edit the profile only by asking the AI Assistant.
Samples never move a placed field. The app turns on Document reflows if a value shifts. Sender-printed values become extraction fields. Running the template fills the arriving document itself.
Values that change switch to questions. Repeated spots fold into one field. Signatures stay yours to sign.
Derived values are not guessed. You set the source or expression yourself.
Set text appearance in the field settings. Signature spots become signature fields automatically. Deleted fields stay skipped. The tray offers to build a new template if a file is not a copy.
